Student and members of staff from Coleg Cambria are celebrating after recently achieving an NVQ in Welsh.

Eight members of staff and one learner showed their dedication and determination to successfully achieve this qualification.

The OCR Welsh Language suite of qualifications provides second language candidates with high quality, nationally recognised qualifications. The course has a vocational focus and students develop their knowledge and understanding of the world of work.

The content equips them to develop skills which are of real value to gaining future employment such as introducing themselves, writing CVs and carrying out business presentations.

Rob Nichols Work Based Learning Assessor and IQA at Cambria who achieved the qualification said: “I really enjoyed doing the NVQ in Welsh qualification, and I must thank my tutor Non Lewi- Edwards for her time.

“Even though it had been 28 years since I had spoken Welsh, I still understood the language and was able to write in some respects, however I needed some confidence with the speaking.

“Now I feel that I can converse in Welsh at a relatively decent standard and as a result I can help our students to further their language skills throughout their time at college. I am now looking forward to further develop my Welsh skills on the Sabbatical Scheme.”
