There’s still time for professional and amateur bakers in Wrexham to battle it out for the role of ‘Master Baker’ in this month’s Wrexham Bake Off.

There will be no soggy bottoms allowed when local baking businesses, restaurants and individuals compete on Wednesday 25th October for the coveted title of Star Baker.

Back for it’s third event, the Wrexham Bake Off follows on from the success of 2016 which saw the inaugural competitions raise over £1500 for Nightingale House Hospice.

Organised by Gresford councillor Andrew Atkinson, owner of The Bank, Alex Jones, and in collaboration with This is Wrexham, the baking competition will take place in The Bank on the High Street in town.

The cost to enter is £5, this is per category that you enter. Every penny goes to the hospice.

Entries will be brought to The Bank and judged in front of a live audience who will then get the chance to buy and try slices of cake and other treats for £1 each. There will be prizes awarded to the winners as well as a fundraising raffle on the night.

As the bakes are done at home, competitors are being asked to produce a 30 second video clip of themselves baking. This can of course be faked and doesn’t have to be your actual bake.

This can be serious, funny, ridiculous or full of baking puns – whatever you want! The short videos will give those taking part a chance to promote yourself, your business or both.

It doesn’t have to be complex, just a camera phone will do. If you cannot do a video then simply take some photos of yourself baking instead!
