Some roads around Llay Industrial Estate remain closed this morning following a large blaze overnight.

The latest traffic report for the area states:

‘Both directions Miners Road from B5373 / Miners Road to Miners Road / Miners Park / Davy Way
Status:

Roads are closed due to building fire on Miners Road both ways from B5373 Rackery Lane to Miners Park.

The road remains closed following a fire in an industrial unit overnight. Originally the cordon was wider but has been reduced to just the roads within the industrial estate.’

Two fire crews remain at the scene this morning as damping down takes place

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident on the Llay Industrial Estate on Aerial Road at 10:51pm last night (Monday 20th August).

Three fire appliances from Wrexham, two from Deeside, and one from Johnstown, together with an aerial ladder platform from Wrexham are in attendance.

The fire service say that on arrival, firefighters were confronted with a single storey building which was well alight and are using four sets of breathing apparatus and two main jets to tackle the fire.

As a result of the fire the Welfare roundabout and road up to Crown cordoned off.

The fire, which broke out in a unit on the industrial estate, has caused the nearby non-profit making social enterprise Second Circle Furniture, to announce its closure for the foreseeable future.

A statement posted on Facebook this morning, says: “It is with a heavy heart Second Circle will be closed for the foreseeable future. This is due to a severe fire in the building attached to Second Circle. And not part of our project!

“I would personally like to thank the 30 plus firefighters for their help containing the fire and stopping it spreading into our building.

“Further information will be provided once we have a update.”
