Smoke from the Llangollen fires is visible over town this evening, possibly due to a change in wind direction.

Last week’s fire had the smell of smoke reach the town centre, with a slight haze, however this evening’s covering is the worst yet.

Hilary said: “Awful in Johnstown – my eyes and throat are stinging”, with Sarah and others reporting the strong smell of smoke, saying it “stinks of fire in Ruabon”.

Seven fire crews are still at the fire close to the Horseshoe Pass, with the below video showing the fires still burning at 7:30pm tonight

Thanks to @MotomanC for tweeting us the top image and the below showing the pall of smoke around the area:

Earlier today the Fire Service issued a lengthy statement about ongoing efforts near to Llangollen – you can read that here.
