Shopmobility Wrexham celebrates relaunch of its mobility scooter fleet
Wrexham’s Shopmobility service has celebrated the official relaunch of its fleet of new mobility scooters.
The event, which took place at the Wrexham Bus Station on Friday 9th August, was organised by the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW)
The relaunch follows the receipt of funding from the Welsh Government, Betsi Cadwalladr University Health Board and Wrexham County Borough Council to rejuvenate the fleet at AVOW’s Shopmobility.
The service enables members to explore Wrexham Town Centre with greater freedom to access shops and services. The range of equipment in the fleet will enable the service to fulfil the needs of a wider range of people and mobility issues.
The Mayor of Wrexham, councillor Robert Walsh visited Shopmobility at the relaunch and heard about the value of the service in the local community from both new and existing members.
Cllr Walsh also experienced first-hand the new fleet by driving a mobility scooter around Wrexham Bus Station.
In addition to the town based mobility scooters, there is now a range of ‘Booty’ scooters and wheelchairs that are lightweight and collapsible for car boot storage, these are available for longer hire to assist members on holiday or out of the county.
Shopmobility continues to offer an affordable service from an accessible location for the use of members throughout Wrexham County Borough and beyond.
The service operates on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am until 4pm and on the last Saturday of every month from 9:30am until 12:30pm.
