There are ‘severe delays’ and train cancellations this afternoon for passengers travelling between Wrexham and Bidston due to a tree on the track.

The tree is blocking the track near Upton and as a result trains are not running between Bidston and Shotton.

Initially just the 2:32pm train between Bidston and Wrexham Central and 3:30pm Wrexham Central to Bidson trains were affected.

Arriva Trains Wales have since issued an update stating that trains will not run between Shotton and Bidston until at least 6:45pm.

Buses have been running in place of trains and these will be operated by Pats Coaches.

Details posted by Arriva Trains Wales state: “17:45 Bidston to Wrexham Central due 18:46 will be started from Shotton High Level.

“It will no longer call at Bidston, Upton, Heswall, Neston and Hawarden Bridge.

“This is due to a tree blocking the railway.”
