Update: The fire caused 95% damage to the property on Wesley Road, and three crews, as well as the Incident Command Unit from Rhyl were at the scene tackling the fire using breathing apparatus and hose reels after receiving the initial call at 18.36hrs yesterday, December 22.

The probable cause of the fire is likely to be electrical. The family was alerted to the fire by the activation of a smoke alarm and all persons from the property were unhurt.

Original Story: Last night firefighters attended a serious house fire on Wesley Road, Bwlchgwyn outside of Wrexham.

Three crews from Wrexham and crews from Johnstown, Buckley and Llangollen as well as the Incident Command Unit from Rhyl are at the scene tackling the fire using breathing apparatus and hose reels after receiving the initial call at 18.36.

All persons from the property have been accounted for and are unhurt. One local resident has said the house affected is a ‘large bungalow’ , and sadly it sounds very badly damaged.

Gwyn Jones from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are in attendance at a well developed fire affecting the whole of the property.

“Firefighting has been hampered by icy conditions and strong winds but crews are working hard to bring the fire under control.”

We have been told the earlier incident on the a483 meant some crews battled traffic at times to attended. You can find out more about the incident here.

Thanks to Sophie for sending us the above picture from the scene in Bwlchgwyn this evening.
