Wrexham Golf Club has seen an alteration to its course due to the new industrial estate link road being built, and a survey was undertaken which indicated that there is a potential safety issue with wayward balls on the new 9th tee. The surveyor has confidence in the ability of Wrexham golfers describing the chance of such a mis hit as ‘low’, however requiring safety measures to be put in place.

As a result Wrexham Golf Club have submitted a planning application to place a section of netting along side the new link road. The aim is to stop wayward balls being hit from the 9th tee ending up on the eastbound (or westbound if they get good yardage!) carriageway.

The construction will be of lattice frame towers and a polypropylene netting. The net will cover off 71 meters of the course and at its peak will be 12 meters high in a triangular shape.

The 9th Tee has had to be moved due to compulsory purchase of some land to build the road on. Wrexham.com is aware of landowners who have yet to be paid for the land the road is being built on, despite the road due to open in just over a months time on July 16th.
