A royal helicopter was spotted using the 9 Acre field in Wrexham this afternoon.

UPDATE: The flight has just taken off just after 4pm:
takeoff

Original info below…

We had to double check who was expected, as the tail reference and large Royal crest gave the game away to the nature of the flight.

The Princess Royal, also known as Princess Anne, was at the Ramada in town visiting Mobile Support Services as part of her role as Patron of the Tenovus Cancer Care charity.

Later the Princess was guest of honour at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse earlier at a Racing Welfare Charity Raceday.

It appears the Princess is heading back to London where later she will have a Livery Dinner at the Fishmongers’ Hall, London Bridge.

The last time we can recall such a landing was when Nick Clegg paid a flying visit to the town, favouring a helicopter out after zipping from Glyndwr University following protests over the closure of Remploy.
