Two post offices in Rossett and Gresford have successfully applied for Welsh Government funds to help diversify and upgrade their services.

Post Offices across Wales are to be awarded grants totalling £526,698 to help sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses diversify and improve facilities for the community.

The grants will enable Gresford Post Office to offer additional services in the near future such as hot drinks and a photo booth.

Rossett Post Office will also be provided money to buy a colour printer and have security systems upgraded. In addition, Rossett and Gresford Post Offices will also receive £500 each for business advice which will help to put them on a sustainable footing for the future.

Since making the first diversification awards in July 2009, the Welsh Government has awarded funds totalling £4.4 million post offices across Wales.

Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths said: “My congratulations to the staff at both Gresford and Rossett Post offices on their successful funding bids.

“This money will help enable these branches to remain viable, vibrant and at the heart of their communities for years to come.

“The Welsh Government is doing a service to communities across Wales by providing the support Post Offices need to adapt for the future.”
