Road Reopens After Lorry Strikes Bridge

Roads around Hope, Caergwrle and Cefn-y-Bedd are currently experiencing slow traffic as a result of two separate accidents -including a lorry striking a bridge near Hope.

UPDATE 6:10pm: Trains are now running normally between Wrexham Genral and Shotton following a vehicle striking a bridge at Caergwrle, traffic is still backed up in the area.

The A541 Wrexham Road both ways are currently blocked after a lorry struck a railway bridge at the A550 Hawarden Road / Cymau Road shortly before 4:10pm this afternoon.

As a result of the incident train services travelling between Wrexham General and Shotton are blocked – with National Rail warning that services running through these stations may be
cancelled, delayed by up to 45 mins or revised. Disruption is expected until at least 5:15pm this afternoon

The A550 (Hawarden Road) is also blocked to road traffic at this time.

Hope-traffic

Further north up the road near the Kinnerton Road turning, there is a separate accident involving a car towing a trailer. The incident took place at around 3:50pm this afternoon.

As a result the A550 Wrexham Road is partially blocked and is experiencing slow traffic as a result of the incident.
