Rhosddu Park family fun day branded a “huge success”
A family fun day held in a Wrexham park this week has been praised for its success.
Hundreds of people of all ages attended the Rhosddu Park Play Day, which took place on Tuesday afternoon.
The free event was arranged by Ian Lucas MP, The Salvation Army, North Wales Police and AVOW. Rhosddu Spar, St James’ Church, The Community Church, the Methodist Chapel and Rhosddu Community Council were also involved.
Mr Lucas has since issued a big ‘thank-you’ to everyone who helped make a family fun day a huge success.
“It was wonderful to see the community come together to put on such an enjoyable event,” he said.
“This really was a team effort and events like this make me proud to be Wrexham’s MP.
“I’d like to thank the various individuals and organisations who worked so closely with us in organising the fun day, and those who gave their time on the day to make it so special.
“The park was busy all afternoon and I’m grateful to everyone who came down to enjoy the event.
“It was a pleasure to see the park to full with smiling faces – and even the weather was kind to us.”
During the event the park was filled with stalls and attractions, along with a fancy dress competition, a treasure hunt, a bouncy castle, craft and play activities; cakes and drinks provided by the Spar, Asda and Tesco, candy floss, face painting, music from signing choir Wrexham Singing Hands and the Shotton family and friends, and more.
Mr Lucas had the idea of staging family fun days in the park following a conversation with a local resident. There were similar events staged there last year and also in May.
