Major surfacing works on Mold Road are expected to finish three weeks ahead of schedule.

The works, which are currently taking place from the B&Q Roundabout to the entrance of Crispin Lane started on Sunday October 9 and were initially expected to take five weeks to complete.

However Wrexham Council have today announced that thanks to the help of partners and extra resources the works will be complete by Saturday, October 22 – three weeks earlier than expected.

All three phases of work on the inbound lanes were completed by Friday, October 14, and initial work on the outbound lanes were completed by the following Sunday.

With some work left on the outbound lanes, the work should be complete by the weekend.

Wrexham Council say ‘the work is set to be complete before its predicted deadline thanks to strong collaborative working arrangements with council contractors, along with further resources – both of which ensured a minimum of disruption to traffic, residents and businesses’.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “I’m very grateful to all of those involved in helping to get these works finished as soon as possible.

“We know the route is one of the main routes, if not the main route into and out of Wrexham, so we knew that any work scheduled to take place on the Mold Road would affect a large amount of commuters and other road users.

“As such, we were keen to get as much work done as we could in as short a time as possible, and I’m very glad we’ve been able to keep it well within its projected timeline.”
