A widespread power cut has affected a number of homes across the south of Wrexham this evening.

Update 9:50pm: Details on the SP Energy Network say the fault in the area has been resolved.

Anyone still without power should call 0800 001 5400.

Original story: Shortly before 7:30pm there was reports of a power cut in the Acrefair / Ruabon area.

However a number of people have since been in touch to say there are similar issues in Cefn and Rhosymedre.

Details on the SP Energy Networks website say: “We are continuing to discover additional damage on our network, however, we are making good progress in restoring electricity supplies to customers who have been impacted by Storm Doris yesterday.

“Wind speeds recorded at over 94mph have caused significant disruption to the electricity network, uprooted trees and other debris have caused damage and grounded power lines in some areas.

“We are continuing to restore supplies in stages with a view of restoring the majority by 4PM tomorrow. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate again later today which may cause additional strain on our efforts to complete repairs and restore supplies safely.

“If your supply has not been restored by 4PM tomorrow please call back for an update.”
