Qualification for Venture Volunteer

A volunteer at Wrexham Council’s The Venture in Caia Park is now on her way to completing a qualification in child care after a seven month course at Wrexham itec.

Kerry Brown, a volunteer of over 12 years in the Early Years Department of The Venture, was able to take this opportunity of training thanks to the Welsh Government’s Vibrant and Viable Places funding.

The funding is the result of the Welsh Government’s review of approaches to regeneration in Wales and further afield after extensive consultation with partners. Local authorities share more than £100m for regeneration schemes from 2014 to 2017 and funding will be invested in town centres, coastal communities and Communities First areas.

Now on her way to obtaining the Children’s Care, Learning and Development QCF, as well as completing a short course in Playwork Principles, Kerry has embraced the opportunity to learn again and said: “I am so glad that the opportunity to get the childcare qualification was available to me as it has given me so much more confidence in what I do and has opened up lots of new doors for me and my future”.

Tanya Jones, Kerry’s manager at the nursery, said: “Kerry had a very successful interview. Since starting at Sprouts she has made a great contribution to the nursery and is a wonderful asset to the team.”
