Members of the public are being urged to ‘think carefully’ before going to straight to Wrexham’s A&E Department today following delays due to increased pressure.

The advice comes after eight ambulances were seen parked outside the Wrexham Maelor Hospital earlier today.

The image featured above was sent to us by Mark Borthwick at 2:43pm this afternoon, when ambulances were seen queued outside the Maelor’s Accident and Emergency Department.

A spokesperson for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said: “Wrexham Maelor Hospital is currently experiencing some ambulance delays due to increased pressure. The situation is being managed and we would like to thank our staff for their dedication in ensuring care is delivered during these busy times.

“We encourage the public to think carefully before going straight to their local A&E Department and to ‘Choose Well’. Busy A&E Departments can help those who need urgent help and can treat people who are very ill or badly injured.

“We would ask the public to choose the right NHS service if they become ill or injured. These include Minor Injury Units, GP and Dental Services, Out of Hours Services, Pharmacists, NHS Direct and self-care.”
