Public meeting to “understand what happened and learn lessons” after Llantysilio Mountain fire last summer
The impact a large mountain fire on the Horseshoe Pass had on the local area and how similar incidents can be managed in the future are set to be discussed at a public meeting.
Denbighshire County Council’s Communities Scrutiny Committee is holding an ‘evidence gathering meeting’ about last summer’s fire Llantysilio Mountain, near Llangollen.
The fire, which raged between July and August, saw 12 fire engines tackle the blaze at its peak – with smoke seen from 25 miles away.
Denbighshire Council say the aim of the meeting on Wednesday 20th March is to “understand what happened and learn lessons from the event in a bid to improve the management of similar incidents in future and minimise the disruption caused to nearby communities and businesses.”
The meeting will take place at the International Pavilion, Abbey Road, Llangollen LL20 8DR at 10am and will have a morning and afternoon session and will be open to the public.
The Committee would like to hear from individuals affected by the fire about their experiences during this time and the impact it has had on them, their business or community since. If you have any photographic, video or written evidence you would like the Committee to consider please send it to:
Rhian Evans, Scrutiny Co-ordinator, Democratic Services, Denbighshire County Council, County Hall, Wynnstay Road, Ruthin, LL15 1YN or via e-mail to: [email protected] by 12th February 2019
