Prospective Students Invited to Wrexham Glyndwr University Open Day

Hundreds of prospective students are set to flock to Wrexham Glyndwr University this weekend.
Following on from a successful open day in August, where up to 400 people attended to explore the courses on offer, Wrexham Glyndwr University will open its doors again to prospective students this Saturday.

The campus will come alive again this weekend, complemented by a nature education festival at its Northop site and an engineering event at Techniquest Glyndwr on the same day.

It has been a busy few weeks for the North Wales institution which has increased student satisfaction by 5% and its employability level to 92.1%.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maria Hinfelaar, says the success of recent activities will act as a launch pad for a successful academic year.

“The August open day was one of our best ever, and we’re hoping to see similar if not better numbers at our next open days, this Saturday and on October 15,” said Professor Hinfelaar.

“We have many new and exciting courses on offer – including a ground-breaking sports coaching degree with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) Trust – so it’s a great time for students to join us.”

Reflecting on the rise in student satisfaction, as a result of the National Student Survey, she added: “To see a 5% points increase in overall satisfaction is very positive news and shows how hard staff are working to further improve the student experience here in north east Wales.

“Our students are at the heart of everything we do, which is why we will continue to strive for better.

“For now, we look forward to welcoming new students in the coming weeks and those who are returning to us after the summer break.

“Our admissions team is on hand with help and advice for anyone in need of support after receiving their A level grades – please don’t hesitate to get in touch or visit our open day this Saturday.”

The University’s Northop campus is also opening its doors to the community and future students to showcase the scenic site and its courses.

Northop Nature Educational Day will be a great opportunity for everyone to explore the site and find out more about its facilities and courses. Free shuttle buses are available from the Wrexham campus, and the programme includes woodland trails, academic environment talks and activities by Wild Life Trust, RSPB, Field Studies Council and Plas Derw Trust.

And Techniquest Glyndwr is also set to be busy with an engineering day from 11am-4.30pm, funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

As well as talks, garden games, bungee trampolines and interactive workshops there will be an appearance by Robot Wars star Glitterbomb, which was built at the University by James Baker.

The Wrexham Glyndwr University open day will take place between 10am-4pm on Saturday.
