An application to demolish a derelict Community Centre in Brymbo and replace the building with a residential development has been put forward to Wrexham Council.

The Venture Hall at Ael-Y-Bryn, Brynyffynon could be demolished and replaced with four one bedroom apartments if proposals are approved.

On site parking facilities would also be provided for the four apartments.

Along with this a new footpath would be provided for Brynyffynon Road as well as improvements for the existing Ael-Y-Bryn frontage.

In the applications Design and Access Statement it says that: “To concur with the National Planning Policy and the Unitary Development Plan, the scheme has attempted to:

– Make efficient use of the land which is a facility no longer in use.
– Protect the amenities of the surrounding residents.
– Enhance the visual impact of the site.
– Improve the existing footpath on Ael-Y-Bryn, provide a new footpath on Brynyffynon Road.”

The Venture Hall lies in a residential area, with a number of bungalows, apartments and detached / semi-detached properties surrounding it.

Due to this, the Design and Application says that the roofs, guttering and tiles will match those that are already in existence. Along with this there would be a communal entrance to the flats on the first floor.

The planning application is due to go before Wrexham Council at a later date.
