Police are advising people who find unexplained markings on their patio doors and windows to report them.

The advice comes after residents in the Goodwood Grove and Cefndre areas of Wrexham noticed faint pencil or pen markings on the outside of windows and patio doors lined up with where the lock mechanism would be on the inside.

Anyone who notices such marking or sees suspicious behaviour should call the police on 101.

Update from (several readers and…) North Wales Police :

We have had a professional installer look at the marks and this is his opinion:

The marks on the pictures are alignment marks left I suspect by the installer of the door, which have perhaps gone un-noticed since the door was installed. When the installation was completed they should have been cleaned off, as they serve no further purpose. Leaving them there would not in any way compromise the property’s security.

It is quite common when installing these types of products for the installer to mark the position of the locks latch and dead bolt on the frame whilst setting and or adjusting the locks receivers.

Therefore in my opinion I would suggest that these marks are not suspicious and will easily clean off with most cleaning materials.
