Motorists are being advised to not leave valuable items out on display in their vehicles after a series of break-ins around Wrexham town centre.

A total of five theft from vehicles have been reported to police in the past week.

The first theft took place on Belvedere Drive and involved the wheel trims from a Renault Clio being taken.

On Thursday 11th May a vehicle on Smithfield Road was broken into and a dash cam was stolen.

A vehicle parked on Ruthin Road on Saturday 13th May had its windows smashed and property taken from within – with a similar incident taking place on Garner Road on Sunday 14th, which involved the window on the driver’s side of the vehicle being smashed and a purse being stolen.

Finally officers also received reports of a vehicle being broken into on Regent Street at 2:20am this morning. A wallet was stolen from the car.

Wrexham town centre Inspector Paul Wycherley said: “Four out of five of these thefts have involved items being left on display in vehicles.

“I would urge people not to leave any items on display in their cars.

“We are doing our best to get to the bottom of it, however we need people to meet us half way and to take their valuables with them.”
