North Wales Police are urging residents across the region to be aware of rogue traders who have been targeting properties.

Officers are currently investigating a number of incidents across the Flintshire area, where it is believed that cold callers have offered to undertake work and in some cases carried it out without permission.

Properties in Broughton, Sychdyn and Mold have been targeted over the past week, and residents, particularly the elderly are strongly advised not to accept any requests from cold callers.

If your property is likely to be unoccupied for a period, notify a close friend or family member to monitor your address for security purposes

How to beat the bogus caller:

LOCK: Keep your front and back doors locked, even when at home.
STOP: Before you answer, stop and think if you are expecting anyone. Look through the spyhole or window to see who it is.
CHAIN: If you decide to open the door, put the door chain or bar on first. Keep the bar or chain on while you are talking to the person on the doorstep.

North Wales Police are asking residents with details of any individuals, companies and vehicles involved in such cold calling incidents to report suspicious behaviour on 101 or via the live chat system.

More advice can be found on the North Wales Police website.
