Police say body of man found near to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

Update 2:45pm: Police have issued a short statement this afternoon on the incident this morning, “We were called at 10.06am today to a concern for safety incident at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Trevor. Sadly the body of a man was found nearby.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed.”

Emergency services have called to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct area.

There have been reports of a large police presence in the area since around 11am this morning.

The police helicopter was also hovering the area for almost an hour – but has since left.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said they are “dealing with a concern for safety incident”.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to the Pontcysyllte area of Llangollen this morning at approximately 10.16am to support colleagues in the Police.

“We sent one rapid response car and one emergency ambulance to the scene where we were later stood down. No further details are available.”
