Two arrested after police pursuit through town ends with car rammed near Lidl
Update: Police have said two people have been arrested following an incident last night that ended up with a car being rammed by police.
North Wales Police’s PC Hough said: “Two currently in custody for the incident on Salop Road and investigation on-going, thank you to the public for their assistance and patience whilst we dealt with the incident.
“Two arrested for burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.”
The added that the driver was arrested for dangerous driving as well.
The pursuit is believed to have started outside of the town centre, with various eyewitnesses reporting tyres being punctured via spike strips deployed by police. Others reported dangerous driving with the car being driven towards oncoming traffic, at one point with no head lights on.
Original information below…
Salop Road is partially closed this evening due to a police incident.
The road is closed from close to the St Giles turning / Lidl supermarket, up to the old Green Dragon public house.
PC Hough has said: “Road is closed due to RTC and on-going investigation, officers at scene” adding “Please avoid the area.”
“Due to on-going investigation may be closed for some time.”
The person who took the above picture, said police ‘rammed’ the vehicle, later confirmed by this picture via Steven:
Eyewitnesses have said the black vehicle was driving into oncoming traffic on St Giles way just prior to being stopped by Lidl.
Earlier there had been reports of a police pursuit at another area of town, and as yet is unknown if the two incident are linked, with the vehicle involved ignoring the temporary traffic lights in Llay.

Car overtaking madly and at speed on the hill down from the Holly Bush on the way towards Alyn Waters – almost hit us on the wrong side of the road. Being chased by at least three police cars then.
