Police activity in Wrexham yesterday evening has been explained, with North Wales Police confirming it was in relation to the concern of the safety of a local man.

Shortly before 6pm last night we had a number of people contact us asking why the police helicopter was hovering over the Offa area. There were also reports of police activity on the ground.

Dave Williams tweeted Wrexham.com to say: “Anyone know why the police helicopter above Pentre Gwyn / Abenbury loads of police knocking about as well.”

Lee added: “Something huge going on around Kings Mills. Police everywhere by the mill, access to the walkways have been taped off.”

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “The police activity related to a concern for the safety of a local man. A number of police resources were deployed in the Wrexham area to try and locate him and ensure his safety.

“Trained negotiators were deployed and liaised with the man who was in the Kingsmill area and he was later taken to a place of safety.”
