A large police presence at the traveller site on Ruthin Road throughout this afternoon has been explained.

Shortly before 12:30pm this afternoon there were several reports of police vehicles blocking off the entrance the camp and parked along Ruthin Road.

Eyewitnesses also described it as being a “large police presence” in the area.

There had been reports that the police helicopter was hovering over the scene, but this was not the case. The police helicopter was overhead town around 9am.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police has since confirmed that they reports of an occupant of a vehicle behaving suspiciously.

The spokesperson added: “Officers followed the vehicle to the site on Ruthin Road and no offences were disclosed.

“Police have now left the site.”
