Plans have been revealed for Wrexham’s annual St. David’s Day parade.

The parade to celebrate the Welsh patron saint is set to start at 1.30pm on March 1st from Eagles Meadow.

It will then make its way through Wrexham town centre along the following route; Smithfield Road, Charles Street, High Street, Regent Street, Egerton Street and Lord Street to Queens Square and then onto Llwyn Isaf.

At Llwyn Isaf there will be a short speech from the Mayor of Wrexham Cllr. Ian Roberts and the National Anthem will be sung.

After the parade there will be music in the bandstand on Llwyn Isaf from local bands and stalls to visit on the green.

Everyone is welcome to join the parade from the start at Eagles Meadow or from anywhere along the route.

Cllr Rodney Skelland, Lead Member for Regeneration and Corporate Governance said: “St. David’s Day is a day to celebrate our Welsh culture and heritage, the parade has become a great annual event and I hope this year it will attract even more spectators to line the streets and help us celebrate.”

Groups are asked to register their interest in joining the parade in advance with the organisers on 01978 292536.

A St. David’s Market will also be held on Saturday 3rd March from 10am – 4pm on Queens Square, Wrexham.

The annual market will include over 50 stalls selling a variety of products including Welsh food and crafts.

There will also be cookery demonstrations, children’s activities, face painting and The Wrexham Champion Sausage 2012 Competition.
