A planning application has been submitted for the development of 22 new homes in Rhostyllen.

If successful the houses would be built on one of the main routes into the village, Wrexham Road, on the site of Imperial Commercials car repair and servicing garage.

Imperial Commercials decided to try and sell the land and relocate after a number of noise complaints meant that the business could no longer operate efficiently.

The garage is located close to a residential development and has received 12 complaints since 2004 most notably due to the use of brake testing equipment, vehicle engine noise and horns being sounded.

Despite efforts to try and deal with the complaints the company felt it could no longer carry out its business activities efficiently.

A planning application to redevelop the site into housing has already been turned down by Wrexham Council over concerns for pedestrian safety.

However, the new application offers to put £10,000 towards the cost of a signalised pedestrian crossing on Wrexham Road.

If successful the development will be carried out by developers Harris Lamb.
