A new overspill car park for visitors could soon be created at a National Trust site in Wrexham.

Proposals have been submitted on behalf of Erddig Hall to use a plot of land to “facilitate” the additional car parking spaces at the site until 2023.

Previously the land has been used on an “ad hoc basis” for event parking. However under the new proposals the land would be used between March and the end of October, along with busy events outside of this period.

If approved the land would be used between 2020 and 2023 while a more “permanent solution to car parking” is found.

The document continues onto state: “The consent is sought to facilitate much needed visitor overspill car parking capacity at Erddig.

“A temporary consent is sough to enable discussions to continue on the provision of a permanent overspill carpark at Erddig including its siting, design, consenting and construction.

“A considerable period of investigation is required to enable this to be brought forward.”

The application will be considered for approval at a later date.
