The Peoples Market was ‘evacuated’ this afternoon following a fire alarm.

One appliance attended the Peoples Market at 2:35 this afternoon after the fire alarm at the property went off – however it thankfully turned out to be a false alarm.

We have been told by one onlooker that people were evacuated from the premises, however when we attended the scene shortly after the market was back open, with shoppers having a nose at the stalls!

Earlier this afternoon we have a few people contact us stating they could hear an air raid siren in the town centre – however we are assuming the noise that people could hear was the fire alarm at the market.

Thanks to Sarah and Mark Davenport for sending us the above photo of an appliance attending the scene.
