The Peacocks store in the town centre will be reopening its doors to customers.

Peacocks shut its doors last February when the business went into administration. It was bought out by Edinburgh Woollen Mill shortly after, which lead to 388 stores being saved in the process.

Since then Edinburgh Woolen Mill has began to reopen some of the 224 stores that were closed.

In total the closure of Peacocks led to 17 redundancies in the town.

Over the past few months there have been many rumours that the Peacocks store in the town centre is due to reopen. However further confirmation was provided last night on the Facebook page ‘Save Peacocks’.

Back in June the rumours began on our forums, with reports that the building was having its phone lines refitted.

When Wrexham.com walked past the store earlier, there were lights on and a couple of people walking around. When we popped past later on, a number of rails had been placed up around the store.

It’s locally rumoured that Peacocks will reopen next Thursday on the 15th of August.

We have contacted Peacocks head office and are awaiting confirmation on the official opening date.
