A young girl raised over £2,500 raised on Saturday night during a charity head shave event.

Jenna Jones from Wrexham, shaved her hair off at the RAFA Club on Saturday to raise funds for new equipment for the ENT Ward.

Around 150 people turned up to support Jenna and to donate over £2,500 to the ward.

The decision to shave her hair off came as a result of Jenna’s mums cancer diagnosis.

In May Jenna’s mum was diagnosed with inoperable throat cancer and has recently received the dates for her chemotherapy and radium.

Jenna and her family were told that the equipment used to check throats in the ENT ward is old, and there is no charity set up directly for the ward.

Jenna said: “Everyone has told me how proud they are and have given me so much encouragement.

“I was terrified before and during, and even cried but it is for such an amazing cause as the ENT ward doesn’t have a charity.

“As my mum says “cancer starts somewhere” so the money raised can be put towards diagnostic equipment.”

Alongside the funds raised for the ward, Jenna’s hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes wigs for children suffering with cancer.

Jenna said: “I’m so incredibly proud of myself and those who helped me to make it possible. Every time I look in the mirror now I know that the money I and others raised could potentially help another person.”
