A 76-year-old Wrexham man will appear before Mold Magistrates on October 16th, charged with two offences of indecent assault against a boy.

Roger Owen Griffiths, aged 76, from Wrexham, is alleged to have committed the offences between 1982 and 1984, when the boy was aged between 12 and 14 years old.

The charges result from an investigation by Operation Pallial, a National Crime Agency investigation into recent allegations of past abuse in the care system in North Wales.

A total of 21 people have now been arrested or interviewed under caution by NCA Officers. Of these a total of 13 people have been charged, with the remainder on bail pending further enquiries.

The number of people coming forward with reports of abuse in the care system in North Wales continues to increase. Up to 21st August 2014, a total of 283 people have reported one or more allegations to the investigation team.

Information given to the investigation team by 236 people is under active investigation at this time and has resulted in 57 people being identified as potential suspects.

Pallial Officers say work to identify further potential suspects is continuing.
