Ongoing Mystery Of Town’s Data Connection Explained (Hopefully!)

Wrexham.com for people living in or visiting the Wrexham area

Over the past month we have had many readers contact us (sometimes on a daily basis!) asking if anyone else has been having issues with mobile data connections.

Last month we reported that a number of people had been in touch saying they had been having issues getting 3G. It appears as though several networks in the area have been affected, with people getting in touch to say they had been having issues getting 3G in the town with 02, Virgin and Vodafone over the past few weeks.

Arguably the network people have contacted Wrexham.com about the most is EE, with people struggling to get signal anywhere in the area. However some pointed out that just a few miles up the road, coverage is fine in Chester.

At the start of May, Wrexham.com contacted EE regarding the network issues in the area and were told: “We are aware some customers have reported signal issues in the Wrexham area – engineers have attended sites in the area, and performance has now improved. We will continue to monitor the service in this area. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

However despite the update from EE, many Wrexhamites have been in touch to say that they are struggling with their EE network. There has also been confusion from some readers as to why they were still having issues with their EE network.

One reader contacted us a few weeks to say that the staff at EE had told them a mast behind Primark was down. Another added that they had spoken to staff in the Eagles Meadow branch who had told them the issues were due to masts being transferred over to 4G.

One person tweeted us on Thursday to say: “Yet again EE is a waste of money, can’t get signal at all in Wrexham.” Another person tweeted to ask if anyone else had been having issues with their EE network.

There is also an eight page thread on our forums full of people who have been having difficulty with various networks and 3G in Wrexham.

Other people however have seen their EE signal in the town centre improve since our last report, with Charlotte tweeting to say: “Oh my days! EE 3G is working in the town centre today #miracle.”

Last week we sent EE several town centre postcodes for investigation as well as asking for clarification as to what the issue was.

A spokesperson for EE told Wrexham.com: “an EE spokesperson: “A technical fault caused some of our customers in the Wrexham area to experience network issues. This has now been fully resolved and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Has your network coverage in the area improved? Or are you on a network that still has issues? You cna take part in the discussion on our forums here
