Nominations Revealed For The Wrexham Tourism Awards 2017
Nominations for this year’s Wrexham Tourism Awards have been revealed – with local businesses set to battle it out for the accolade of best restaurant, best large event and the Wrexham Town Centre customer services award.
Over 60 local businesses put themselves forward for this year’s awards ceremony and a shortlist consisting of 14 categories has been drawn up.
Now in its third year the awards ‘celebrate and showcase the achievements’ of Wrexham’s tourism industry – including the best visitor attraction, best restaurant / cafe and the rising star award.
Organised by Wrexham’s Destination Management Partnership, this year’s glittering award ceremony will take place at a gala dinner at Chirk Castle on March 23rd.
The evening will also officially see Wrexham launch its Year of Legends tourism celebrations, including events such as DragonFest and a marketing campaign backed by Visit Wales to promote legendary reasons to visit the region this year.
Speaking about this year’s Wrexham Tourism Awards, Joe Bickerton, Destination Manager at Wrexham Council said: “As much as we can shout about how our County Borough is a great place to visit for leisure and business – we rely heavily on the service and welcome that our businesses provide,
“From the greeting in the cab from the station through to the goodbye when checking out of a local hotel – we want visitors to remember Wrexham for the right reasons and fortunately that is what’s continually happening.”
Wrexham County Borough is coming off the back of another bumper growth in local tourism, with an 11% growth measured in 2015 and over £111million being spent in the sector which supports nearly 1,700 local jobs.
