Nominations for who should take over the role of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Wrexham have been put forward.

The nominations will go before councillors at this week’s Full Council meeting – the last of it’s kind to take place before the Local Government elections on May 4th.

In March/April each year a report is presented to Council seeking nominations for the election of a Mayor and the appointment of a Deputy Mayor, for recommendation to the Council at its Annual Meeting in May.

It has been recommended that current Deputy Mayor, Cllr Bernie McCann takes over as Mayor for 2017/18.

Cllr Andy Williams has been recommended for the role of Deputy Mayor for the same period.

The fulfilling of each role of course depends on the outcome of the upcoming elections.

The meeting will take place at the Guildhall on Wednesday 22nd March at 4pm. For those who cannot attend the meeting it will be webcast live on the Wrexham Council website.
