Nightingale House Hospice is asking the local community to “choose charity shops” by donating their unwanted items.

The national “Choose Charity Shops” campaign is running all this week and with economic belt-tightening, encouragement to recycle and pressure to minimise carbon footprints people are increasingly turning to charity shops.

Nightingale House Hospice has six shops around the Wrexham area which selling good quality clothing and furniture and require donations to keep them going.

Caroline Siddall, Income Generation Director for the Hospice said: “People generally have one or two bags of spare clothing in their wardrobe which we’d be delighted to receive, but we’re equally delighted to receive two or three items.”

Last week Lesley Griffiths AM visited one of the shops for Nightingale House Hospice to donate items in support of the campaign.

Lesley Griffiths regularly donates to the hospice shops and on this occasion was pleased to find and purchase a tapestry fire-screen, something she had been searching for for a while.

The local Assembly Member said: “I’m delighted to be able to bring some of my unwanted goods to support Nightingale House Hospice and all the good work they do. I always try and drop off items I no longer need.”

Donations can be made directly to the shops and the hospice offers a collection service for large items.
