A new store has opened in the town centre – with Wrexham chosen as one of the locations to trial the new format.

Cardmarket which is located on Hope Street opened its doors for the first time this morning.

Over the past few weeks shoppers in Wrexham may have noticed work taking place in the former Adams store, however there has been little known about what the eventual store would be.

Wrexham itself has been chosen as one of ten locations across the UK to trial the new budget card shop, which is owned by WHSmith.

Cards available start from 19p, with a various range of card prices available. Items such as balloons, gifts and Christmas items are also available in store.

A spokesperson for the store told Wrexham.com: “We are delighted to announce that Cardmarket is now open in Wrexham. As a leading national retailer, WHSmith is always looking for new opportunities to test and develop new store formats.

“We intend to trial a small number of stores which will provide customers with a wide range of value cards, gifts and balloons, utilising our existing head office infrastructure, supply chain and field team to support a standalone value cards store. We very much look forward to welcoming customers to the new store.”
