Newly-installed machines at town centre council owned car parks in Wrexham are now able to Chip and Pin card payments.

The new machines were in operation and able to take cash payments at the start of January.

With all necessary systems now in place, the machines can now accept credit and debit card payments.

Proposals for the new car parking machines were approved by the Executive Board at the start of 2016, with funding made available from the Council’s Revenue Out-turn Budget.

It is hoped that along with making parking easier, the new machines will also deter thieves.

The new machines are installed at:
St Giles
Market Street
Crescent Road
St Georges Crescent
Library
Waterworld
The Guildhall
Ruabon Car Park (due to be installed end of January)

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “I’m glad to see that these new facilities are in place.

“The new machines will be a great service to those coming in to Wrexham to shop, and will save people using our parking facilities from having to find the correct change.”
