A pop-punk band from Wrexham is to perform on the main stage at one of the UK’s biggest music festivals.

Local band Neck Deep were this week announced as one of the acts who will perform on the main stage of the iconic Reading and Leeds music festival this summer.

The band will be sharing the stage on the opening day of the festival on August 24th with Panic! At The Disco, All Time Low, Bastille and headliners – Mumford and Sons.

This will be the second time Neck Deep have performed at the festival – however this is the first time the band will have performed on the main stage.

Speaking about the announcement, Neck Deep vocalist Ben Barlow said: “It’s crazy to be playing Reading and Leeds main stage this year, kind of a dream come true. For a small band coming from Wrexham, this is obviously a big deal to us. It feels great to be representing our hometown and Wales in general.

“I myself have seen some of my idols play that stage, so to be given the opportunity to do it ourselves is wild. I can’t wait, especially after last year being two of our favourite shows ever. Should be fun.”

Since forming in 2012, Neck Deep have been branded ‘one of the UK’s most exciting and fastest rising names’. Comprising of Ben Barlow, Lloyd Roberts, Matt West, Dani Washington and Fil Thorpe Evans, the band signed an international record deal with US label Hopeless Records in August 2013.

Over the past few years Neck Deep have continued to grow from strength to strength, touring America with some of the biggest names in rock during last year’s ‘Warped Tour’, releasing their debut album ‘Wishful Thinking’, winning a Kerrang! award and opening for Blink-182 at the London Brixton Academy last year.
