Mysterious Flash Lights Up The Wrexham Sky
Last night a number of people got in touch with us via Facebook and Twitter asking about a white flash of light they had seen across Wrexham.
Just before 10pm last night a number of Wrexhamites from Acton, Rhosddu and Adenbury got in touch to say that they had seen a big flash of light appear in the sky.
The flash of light was even seen as far as Chirk.
A similar incident happened a few weeks ago when a sub station ‘tripped’ causing a flash of light as a result. However, last nights seems much bigger and less blue in colour.
Simon Phillips got in touch to say when he was travelling from Llay to Rossett he saw an ‘almighty white brilliant flash of light which lit up the sky over Chester.’ He added he had to shield his eyes as was driving due to brightness.
Various theories so far include Stanlow oil refinery being ‘nuked’ (!), atmospheric weather related and even an alien invasion / abduction.
However it is not believed that the flash of lightening or atmospheric weather related, despite the weather being poor overnight. The height of the flash would point to it being not due to a sub station or similar.
Currently the cause is unexplained, please get in touch if you know what it was!

@clarke_bec @wrexham Possible, but it’s probably the aliens coming back. They pop down to see the raccoons once a fortnight! — Broken Monkey (@Broken__Monkey) September 15, 2013
