Monday updates after 3 days of snow and -4C overnight

Temperatures dropped overnight freezing the previous three days of snowfall, with a yellow warning in place for ice this morning.

Lectures have been cancelled at Glyndwr University, Coleg Cambria is closed to students (open for staff and employer courses) and a number of schools under Wrexham Council are closed (list here) with many more in the area also closed. There is an issue with the Council’s website that was showing information for just 7 schools at 1am, and is showing incomplete information as of 8:30am.

Below are the Wrexham related updates from Arriva Buses Wales so far in the Wrexham area, however these could change throughout the rest of the day. As of 11:30am these are the details released by the company:

Service 1 – Normal Service
Service 3,4 – Serving Johnstown main Roadupto Ruabon roundabout, back to town only
Service 7 – Holt Road, Greyhound Roundabout, Cefn Road, Queensway, Hightown only
Service 8 – Hightown, Queensway, Cefn Road, Greyhound Roundabout, Holt Road only
Service 10,11,11A – Normal service, however currently excluding The Adwy
Service 12,12A – Full service as far as Black Lane School in Pentre Broughton
Service 14 – Operating through the Lodge past Ty Tia pub, Pheonix Drive
Service 21,21A – Mold Road bypass, Wheatsheaf Pub, Old Mold Road only
Service 26,27 – Main Road only, missing out Ceargwrle station and Leeswood
Service 32,33 – Full service, missing out Bradley and Llay Village
Service 5 – Normal service

As of 12:10pm a further update for service 7 and 8 has been provided by Arriva:

Service 7 – Holt Road, Hullah Lane,Eaton Road, Kingsly Circle, Cefn Road, Queensway, Hightown only.
Service 8 – Hightown, Queensway, Cefn Road, Kingsley Circle , Hullah Lane, Holt Road only.

Initially there were no services running in Wrexham and some confusion over the Number 1 service, however that is now confirmed as running as normal.

As of 3:07pm this afternoon Coleg Cambria have confirmed all their sites will remain closed on Tuesday due to icy conditions.

Wrexham Glyndwr University say that all campuses will be open tomorrow (Tuesday) and lectures are expected to take place. As was the case today, there will be limited parking on the Wrexham site, and Regent Street will be pedestrian access only.

North Wales Police advised “If venturing out on the roads be aware of icy conditions. Slow down & allow sufficient distance between you and the vehicle in front. Watch for locations where you may need to drive more carefully, either because of side winds or a greater risk of ice.”
