‘High’ Air Pollution Warning For Wrexham
Warnings of an increase in air pollution have been issued across the UK, with Wrexham expected to experience ‘high’ levels throughout the day.
The MET Office has issued warnings of an increase levels of air pollution across the country for the day – with much of the UK expected to be smoggy / cloudy.
Wrexham was initially expected to have a moderate increase throughout the day, however this has since increased to warnings of ‘High’ levels of air pollution/
The Daily Air Quality Index numbered 1-10 and divided into four bands, low (1) to very high (10), to provide detail about air pollution levels in a simple way, similar to the sun index or pollen index.
Wrexham is expected to have high levels of air pollution throughout the day and is listed in band eight, which falls into the ‘High’ category. The Daily Air Quality Index states: Adults and children with lung problems, and adults with heart problems, should reduce strenuous physical exertion, particularly outdoors, and particularly if they experience symptoms. People with asthma may find they need to use their reliever inhaler more often. Older people should also reduce physical exertion..”
However the Index goes onto warn: “Anyone experiencing discomfort such as sore eyes, cough or sore throat should consider reducing activity, particularly outdoors.”
