‘Moderate’ Air Pollution Warnings For Wrexham
Warnings of an increase of air pollution across the country have been issued for the next few days – with parts of Wrexham expected to experience ‘Moderate’ levels.
The Daily Air Quality Index has forecast moderate levels of air pollution for parts of Wrexham including the town centre, Erddig, Bangor-on-Dee and Rhostyllen.
The air pollution is caused by a combination of pollutants which are trapped near the ground, a ‘light southeasterly flow bringing additional pollutants from the continent and, in addition, a small amount of Saharan dust in the air’.
Similar air pollution warnings are also in place for Wednesday. Currently moderate levels of air pollution are also forecast for Wrexham – with a moderate level of four and five expected for the area.
The forecast air pollution comes with health advice and warnings, with Defra stating: “Adults and children with lung problems, and adults with heart problems, who experience symptoms, should consider reducing strenuous physical activity, particularly outdoors. Enjoy your usual outdoor activities.”
However the health advice carries onto say: “Adults and children with heart or lung problems are at greater risk of symptoms. Follow your doctor’s usual advice about exercising and managing your condition. It is possible that very sensitive individuals may experience health effects even on Low air pollution days.”
