Mindfullness And Creativity At The Oriel

A seminar on the use of creativity and Mindfullness will take place at the Oriel next month.

On March 19th a number of talks and practical activities relating to how artists balance their practice with health and well-being.

Over the course of the day, guest speakers including: Susan Young, Programme Leader of the MA Art Therapy at University of Chester and Jill Teague, a Welsh poet and Poetry Therapy Practitioner from Snowdonia will speak about the benefits of Mindfullness.

Exhibiting artists (from the Strand exhibition) Jeanette Orrell and Marion Michell, as well as a practitioner/teacher of Mindfulness will also be present.

A full schedule for the event can be found listed below:

10 :00 – 10:15: Welcome/Introductions
10:15 – 10:45: Mindfulness practitioner/teacher
10:45 – 11:45: Jeanette Orrell will present her work and reflect on her
experience of having an art career, a family, ME and benefits
of Mindfulness.
11:45 – 12:30: Jill Teague to talk about the uses & benefits of therapeutic
writing and well being including how therapeutic writing and
Mindfulness can work together.
12:30 – 1:15: Pot luck lunch* and the opportunity to view Marion Michell’s documentary film about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
1:15 – 2 :15: Susan Young presentation on Art Therapy.
2:15 – 3:30: Workshop 1 – Drawing based, led by Jeanette Orrell

Workshop 2 – Short writing practices led by Jill Teague.
3:30 – 4:00 Plenary session
*Pot luck lunch – Bring a something to share, picnic style.
