North Wales Police say a joint operation between Her Majesties Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) Berwyn, Titan’s Prison Investigation Team and North Wales Police has taken place this afternoon.

Police say this is part of an ongoing anti-corruption investigation, named Operation Earthly.

A 25-year-old female member of prison staff has been arrested for Misconduct in Public office on site and is now in police custody awaiting interview.

Co-ordinated searches of an address in North Wales have taken place and a vehicle linked to the arrest. Specialist search teams are now searching identified parts of the prison.

Supt Jason Devonport said: “Behaviour like this undermines the safety and security of the prison and those who work and visit Berwyn. This operation shows the strong relationship between Criminal Justice partners to reduce the risk of corruption in prisons.”
