Police are continuing their enquiries after a man was seen allegedly carrying a firearm in Gresford yesterday.

As we reported yesterday, armed police forcibly stopped an Arriva bus in Gresford.

Police say a motorist and passenger reported that a man pointed what looked like a handgun at their vehicle as it travelled through Gresford near the Beeches hotel before he boarded a number one bus towards Chester at around 5.02pm yesterday.

Armed officers stopped and searched the bus before it left North Wales and searched several other buses on the route, but no suspect was found or firearm located.

Supt Mark Pierce said; “I’d like to reassure the public that no one was hurt and enquires are ongoing to establish the circumstances. If anyone has information please call 101 or contact via the live webchat quoting reference X043252.”
