Man dies after incident in Caia Park
Update Friday 3rd January: Police have confirmed the 37 year old man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following an incident in Caia Park has been released on conditional police bail pending further investigation.
Original story: A man taken to hospital following a disturbance in Wrexham yesterday has sadly died.
Police were called to the Whitegate area of Caia Park at around 8.15pm last night to reports of a ‘disturbance’.
Chief Inspector Mark Williams said; “Sadly Darren Richards, aged 41, from the Wrexham area has since passed away and a 37 year old man, also from the Wrexham area, is currently in custody assisting police with our enquiries.
“A post mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days. In the meantime I am seeking anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance between two men in the vicinity of Pont Wen and Whitegate Road to contact us.
“If anyone was in a vehicle in this area with dash cam recording between 7pm and 9pm I would very much welcome these people coming forward to assist.
“I would add that this is an isolated incident and we are not seeking anyone else in relation to Darren’s death at this time.”
