A man who has been wanted by police this week in connection with the recent spate of robberies has been arrested in the early hours of this morning.

Police have said this afternoon: “As a result of a number of enquires Ben Brown, the man wanted by North Wales Police in relation to a series of robberies in the Wrexham area was located and arrested during the early hours of this morning”

“At the time Brown was in the company of two women and a male. One of the women and the man have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and the other woman has been arrested for public order offences.”

Det Chief Insp Neil Harrison said: “Following extensive police enquires and with the help of the local community Ben Brown was arrested early this morning in the Rossett area.”

He added: “North Wales Police are very aware of the impact that the recent series of robberies have had on the public and the business community.

“We will continue to work with them to provide reassurance and advice; we have teams of officers working in the communities patrolling key areas. I would like to thank the public for all their help and support in recent weeks, the response to all the appeals made has been fantastic and has enabled us to move this investigation forward.”

Police say all those arrested will be questioned throughout today.

On Friday DCI Simon Williams from Wrexham CID directly addressed the people of Wrexham to offer reassurance and explain what action is being taken following the recent spate of armed robberies:
