Police are appealing for information following a number of arsons in Caia Park Wrexham on Saturday.

The incidents were all in the Bryn Hafod area and involved a fire in a skip, fire damage to the front seat of a vehicle and fire damage to the front door of a house.

A 49-year-old local man has since been arrested and released on bail. Meanwhile police have stepped up patrols in the area to reassure residents.

Detective Inspector Lee Boycott said: “A series of fires were reported to North Wales Police in the early hours of Saturday February 14th. They were all in close proximity at three locations on Bryn Hafod in Caia Park, but were quickly brought under control by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

“We have made an arrest in connection with the fires and a male is currently the subject of police bail pending further enquiries.”

Wrexham County Borough Councillor Ian Roberts, Lead Member for Housing, added: “We are working with the police and fire service to reduce incidents of this type. I would encourage anyone who has any information to contact the police direct.”

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or who may hold information is asked to contact police on 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting reference S021345.
